Growing Up and Maturing

Growing up and becoming mature are important parts of childhood. Growing up is a big part of your job. Physically, you can take care of your body by eating well, sleeping enough, and exercising. Spiritually, you can develop your mind and heart. If you are shy, you can become brave. John the Baptist lived a simple life when he was growing up. He lived outdoors. There might have been wolves and lions around, but he overcame those fears. Overcoming fears is part of growing up.

Samuel was blessed by God and the people when he was young. Jesus also grew up, as we read in today’s text. The important question is how he grew up.

Jesus Grew in Wisdom, Stature, and Favor

Jesus grew wiser, taller, and more loved by God and people. Wisdom and height are easy to see, but it’s more important to think about how he became more loved by God and people. To understand this, I have some questions to ask.

How Did People Find Out About This?

Today’s text tells a story that might be new to you. After Passover, They went to the temple to offer a sacrifice and couldn’t find Jesus. They thought he was with his relatives, so They went back to Jerusalem to look for him. They found him talking to the teachers of the law. They was so embarrassed! His parents must have been worried.

Jesus’s Wisdom and Knowledge

I think she must have scolded him for being gone so long. But Jesus said , “Didn’t you know that I must be about my Father’s business?” This shows that he was old enough to think and decide for himself, not like a child.

Jesus’s Obedience to His Parents

The story doesn’t end there. Even though he was grown up and independent, he was still very devoted to his parents. He went back home with them to Nazareth and obeyed them. His mother remembered all of these things in her heart.

At the end of verse 51, it says, “Keep all these words in mind.” Mothers have special memories for their children. They remember things that fathers might forget. Sometimes they bring up old memories and talk about them.

How Did We Learn About Jesus’s Childhood?

I think we probably heard about these things from his mother, Mary. Or maybe we heard about them from other people who knew him.

How Did Jesus Become More Loved by God and People?

Jesus was known for his obedience and respect for his parents. He is the Son of God, but he was also born as a human being. He came to serve mankind. Even though he is special, he didn’t neglect his family.

Jesus was more loved by God and people. But how did we(luke) know that?

We can find the answer in Proverbs 3:3. It says, “Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart.” Jesus is full of wisdom. “steadfast love” and “faithfulness” are two different words, but they always go together in the Bible. In the Gospel of John, Jesus is described as a man full of goodness and truth.

“steadfast love” and “faithfulness” are important qualities. It’s easy to focus on one more than the other. But Jesus is a man who balances both.

Growing up as a human being can lead to many different ways of thinking and acting. It’s important to be flexible and adapt to different situations.

God tells us to always hold on to love and truth. This means we shouldn’t focus too much on one and not enough on the other. We should keep them close to our hearts, like a necklace around our neck.

When we walk our dogs, we put a leash on them. This keeps them from running away. Who decides where to go? The owner does! It’s the same with us. We shouldn’t just do what we want, but follow the path of love and truth.

Even as we grow older, we need to keep growing. We need to grow spiritually and socially. To have a good relationship with God and other people, we need to live with love and truth. I pray that we will all be filled with this wisdom
